Haidian a rich source of talent comparable to Silicon Valley

As a region with the most intensive intellectual resources in the country, Beijing's Haidian district had attracted 1.9 million talents as of the end of last year, an official with the capital city's talent training and development said on Monday.
About 73.5 percent of the employees in Haidian have received college education or postgraduate degrees, equal to the ratio of talents in Silicon Valley in the United States, said Wang Xuanhua, executive dean of the Beijing Talent Development and Strategic Research Institute, at the opening ceremony of the Haidian Talent Theme Week on Monday.
Wang said the total number of talents in Haidian district accounted for a quarter of the talents in Beijing, and the proportion of employees who have higher education in Haidian is 21 percent higher than the city's average level.
Laborers in Haidian have aspired to a high degree of education, he said. Talents have played a major role not only in Haidian, but also in the capital city to build Beijing as an international scientific and innovative center, said Wang.
