The No 1 building of Huadong Hospital of Fudan University in Shanghai's Jing'an district has been lifted 1.2 meters to better protect the architecture.
The project to lift the six-story Italian renaissance style building took six days and ended on Sept 2.
The hospital said that the average terrain height of the building was 0.6 meters below the campus' ground level. As such, the building was often flooded during rainy seasons.
Designed by Hungarian-Slovak architect Laszlo Hudec and built in 1926, the building once housed a hospital for locals and foreigners. It later became part of Huadong Hospital.
Technical services provider Tianyan Corporation said that nearly 300 sensors were installed on the building to monitor the displacement process.
