The road runs throughout alpine terrain east of Zhangjiakou, where its highest altitude exceeds 2,000 meters.
The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics will be held in February. Most of its skiing events will be held in Beijing's Yanqing district and Zhangjiakou's Chongli district.
