Shu kingdom relics site found in Chengdu
Chinese archaeologists have discovered ruins of the ancient Shu kingdom, a civilization dating back at least 4,800 years, in Sichuan province. The relics site, located in Chengdu, was found in October. Excavation from March to August led to the discovery of more than 80 ancient tombs and over 10 house ruins sites that date back to the Western Zhou Dynasty (c. 11th century-771 BC) and the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 BC). A large number of bronze, jade and pottery items, including a bronze seal, willow-leaf-shaped sword and other artifacts typical of the ancient Shu civilization, have also been unearthed at the site, said Xiong Qiaoqiao, who is leading the excavation project.
