The Water Curtain Caves, famous for their grottoes and murals, are located at Luban Valley in Tianshui, Northwest China's Gansu province. The most impressive sight in the caves is a relief sculpture 42.3 meters in height.

The grottoes have been a feature of the area since the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC), consisting of four clusters – Water Curtain Caves, Laqiao Temple, Thousand Buddha Caves and Xiansheng Temple.

Visitors can also view a variety of exquisite murals and painted sculptures dating back to the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534).
