Changsha teacher detained over suspected student assault

A male high school teacher surnamed Duan has been criminally detained on suspicion of the indecent assault of female students in Changsha, capital of Central China's Hunan province, on Wednesday, according to a statement released by the Tianxin Branch of the Changsha Bureau of Public Security on Wednesday.
Duan, 49, a teacher from Changjun High School, arrived in a local police substation and surrendered himself to police at 5 am on Tuesday, and Duan was later detained. Police have launched a further investigation and questioned him, the statement said.
The police attach great importance to the case and have immediately established a special task force to focus on investigating the case after online accusations, it said.
The statement said police reiterated there was zero tolerance for any crimes against minors.
Changjun High School said Duan was a substitute teacher in the school and he resigned on Monday.
