A 34-year-old worker from Zhoushan port of East China's Zhejiang province was found to be positive for the novel coronavirus on Wednesday.

The man surnamed Yu who is employed by a container company in the port had a negative result in a nucleic acid test in a routine testing on Sunday. But his result came out positive on early Wednesday morning after undergoing nucleic acid testing again on Tuesday afternoon, according to a statement released by Ningbo City Health Commission on Wednesday.

Yu has now been sent to a designated hospital for further medical observation and isolated treatment, the statement said.

Yu lives in Baifeng village in Beilun district of Ningbo.

All of Yu's close contacts have now been quarantined, the statement said.

Meanwhile relevant venues where Yu has worked and visited at least once have been required to cease operations for disinfection, said the statement.

And relevant departments have launched a further epidemiological investigation and will publicize the findings, it said.
