Editor's Note: Representatives of Communist Party of China members from different ethnic groups shared their views on how to boost unity and how people from different ethnic groups can better work together for common prosperity and development at a news conference organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee on Wednesday.

We've been focusing on developing animal husbandry, long the strong suit of people in Inner Mongolia. Now each villager has an average of three cattle and 10 sheep, which provides them with a stable income while maintaining a good grassland-livestock balance. Residents have benefited from the improved environment. Their sense of happiness and achievement has been greatly boosted.

Party members must take the lead in informing people about the importance of ethnic unity. We also need to help people learn more about the culture and traditions of people of different ethnic groups to boost mutual understanding and trust. When villagers trust and respect each other, they work together in harmony and make the village a better place.

Pan Qingbiao, Zhuang ethnic group, former Party chief of Pingdeng village, Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region

I returned to my village 11 years ago because I believed I could help its inhabitants, who are mainly from the Va ethnic group, rise from poverty. I believe action speaks louder than words and people could easily tell if I genuinely wanted to help them. Now, my village has become prosperous and a popular tourist destination. More importantly, the villagers all enjoy the fruits of China's development.

The foundation of recognizing our identity as a single united nation is for people from all ethnic groups to defend China's territorial integrity and maintain social stability. In Xinjiang, that has meant battling terrorism, separatism and extremism. It's even more important for people from every ethnic group to be united in the fight against such problems.

Ubulkasim Mattursun, Uygur ethnic group, deputy Party chief of Awat county, Aksu, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region

People from different ethnic groups are all members of the Chinese nation. China can only become stronger when all its members are prosperous. So as a Party member, I see helping people from the Hui ethnic group find suitable ways to improve their income as my responsibility.

Ding Xiuqin, Hui ethnic group, chairwoman of Ningxia Haokai Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Development Company, Ningxia Hui autonomous region

The villagers of Tama are from many ethnic groups, including Tibetan, Han and Hui. I treat them equally. We celebrate each other's festivals together. Enhancing ethnic unity is not a slogan in Tama, but a natural attitude passed on from generation to generation.
