Six detained over tunnel flooding

Six people were detained on criminal grounds on Saturday in connection with the July 15 flooding of a tunnel under construction in Zhuhai, Guangdong province, that led to the deaths of 14 workers.
The Zhuhai city government said those detained included the deputy general manager of the Third Engineering Co of China Railway No 2 Engineering Group Co, identified by the family name Liang; and someone with the family name Hu, who is director of Zhuhai Xingdi Construction Project Management Co, which was supervising the project.
A team sent by the provincial government, and one from the public security authorities of Zhuhai have both been investigating the incident.
