If you close your eyes and just listen, you won't doubt that the beautiful birdsong comes from a bird. But it doesn't. It actually comes from an elderly man blowing on a green Chinese onion leaf.
Zhao Fusheng, a 70-year-old retiree in Changchun, Jilin province, began to research the structure of onion leaves five years ago and started to practice making sounds with them.
Now he can make convincing birdsongs using the leaves as a sort of musical instrument. His performances have been captured on video.
"It puts me in a good mood every day," he said. "I also hope to have more communication with people who have similar hobbies."
