Tianjin’s Hedong district: High-quality development in hand with high living standards


In the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25), Hedong district, part of Tianjin's central area, will promote high-quality development and enhance people's livelihoods by forming innovation zones, enriching cultural life, implementing urban renewal and enhancing the livable environment.
During the period, it will power innovation drives and focus on six industries for economic development, namely, the Information Industry, Platform Economy, Financial Technology, Headquarters Economy, Next Generation Materials, and the Cultural and Tourism Industry.
Quicktron, an intelligent warehousing operation system and intelligent robot provider, has settled in the district for its favorable policies and support network.

The company has seen robust development in the district, recently completing a C+ round of billion-dollar financing which will facilitate its global development and AI core technology development.
The district has taken advantage of the opportunities brought by the regional coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei. In the first half of the year, the district has introduced 202 projects from Beijing and Hebei based enterprises, with an investment totaling 5.58 billion yuan($862.35 million).
In addition, Hedong has been upgrading its business transformation to boost consumption and the night-time economy.
"In recent years, Hedong has focused on improving the quality and efficiency of development, and optimizing the urban spatial structure." said Han Qiming, head of the district's commerce department.
It has formed seven commercial complexes and eight large supermarkets as key players, with a total commercial area of approximately 1.2 million square meters, and annual sales of around 3.5 billion yuan.

Efforts to optimize living conditions for the general public have been a strong focus of the district. Since 2020, 45 communities have been renovated with new elevators and parks as well as renewed drainage systems and intelligent infrastructure, benefiting approximately 25,700 households.
Modern information technologies such as Internet of Things, big data, and cloud computing have been deployed in the district to advance elderly care.
A staff member at Lushan District Elderly Center said: "We can provide comprehensive services such as health care, meals, daily service and more."
