Beijing to provide summer education services to primary students

The Beijing education commission announced on Friday primary school students from grade one to five in the city will be taken care of during the summer vacation by each district's education authorities.
According to the announcement, there will be services such as library space, study rooms and sports activities given by schools designated by each district-level education commissions.
Subject courses like Chinese or math should not be given to students, according to the city's education commission.
Service providers are allowed to charge fees, but for students with financial difficulties, the services should be free of charge, the announcement read.
The commission encouraged various institutions, related departments and social organizations to contribute to the program, since the young generation needs support from families, schools and the whole society.
In the past, students went to many educational institutions to take subject courses outside of school, which is now discouraged by the education commission.
