The song Defending the Yellow River was performed in chorus at a gala held in Beijing on Monday evening to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
This song was the seventh chapter of the famous Yellow River Cantata, which was created by Chinese composer Xian Xinghai (1905-1945) and poet Guang Weiran (1913-2002) in early 1939.
Titled "The Great Journey," the gala features four chapters depicting how the Chinese people have carried out the revolution, construction and reform over the past century.
