Leisure and Flowers, an exhibition at the Beijing Fine Art Academy's gallery until June 27, shows a world of intimacy and leisure created by Beijing-based artist Luo Min.

In her work Luo passionately depicts blooming scenes of varieties of flowers and plants, drawn from her memories of childhood spent in southern Sichuan province where floral blossoms are not uncommon all year around.

Luo's paintings often present a gray tone and warm hues, showing an influence of tapestries she saw in Europe while living there years ago. The warm tones and pictorial patterns of tapestries render an accommodating atmosphere to rooms.

While delivering a nostalgic feeling under her brush, Luo also expresses a philosophy of pursuing a cultural and poetic life, associated with the same style of those classical Chinese paintings made by the upper bureaucratic-literati class. The delight of the small, serene worlds on Luo's canvases allows her audience to reflect on the fast-paced, complex urban life.
