The APEC Workshop on Inclusive Digital Society was held in Guizhou's provincial capital Guiyang on June 8 and was themed around alleviating poverty and improving living standards through increased economic growth.

During the workshop, an APEC delegation visited Huawu village in Xinren Miao township, Qianxi city. The village is also known as "Huawuji", which means "village under the cliff", referring to the village's previous strenuous living environment.

Today, the village is included among Qianxi's digital village pilot projects. With a 5G network, artificial intelligence, clouding computing, and big data technologies, the village has managed to create a 5G digital village service system to support industrial development, public services, and environmental protection.

The Wujiang Gallery Scenic Area, home of Huawu village, is becoming a popular tourist destination and making COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control more difficult.

The village utilizes the 5G system's intelligent tourism function to analyze the scenic area's visitor volume and sends text messages to welcome tourists or warn them when visitor capacity has been reached.

By integrating digital technologies with tourism, the village has been able to attract more and more tourists and develop homestay tourism, agriculture, Miao embroidery, and batik, turning its lucid waters and lush mountains into invaluable assets.

The Miao village has 100 years of history and rich ethnic cultures, with the traditional Lusheng dance selected as a provincial intangible cultural heritage item. The Lusheng dance is a traditional performance where men play reed-pipe instruments while dancing.
