Farmers in Shuyang county, East China's Jiangsu province, make various kinds of giant animals and vehicles from straw to earn a living.
Their products are mainly provided to scenic spots, amusement parks and farms across the country. It takes about 15 days for seven farmers to make an eight-meter-tall animal.
Wang Huayan, who leads about 50 farmers in the venture, said their business not only brings joy to children, but also helps protect the environment.
"The farmers used to burn the straw, which heavily polluted the air," she said. "Now they can make money by selling them, or making them into funny animals."
More than 100 companies in the county now work in the business.
