In a video interview published on her website, Nikki Haley, former US ambassador to the UN, said that it was China that kept her "up at night".

As causes for that, she listed China's growing comprehensive capabilities, the "genocide" in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and the COVID-19 conspiracy, both of which have already been proved false. Then she said, "they tried it with Hong Kong" and will "take Taiwan" and "eat" other places.

The lies about Xinjiang and COVID-19 are not even worth refuting, while the words about Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Taiwan reveal Haley, a politician, lacks the most basic knowledge about world politics and geography.

Both are inseparable parts of China. About Hong Kong, it was some rioters backed by Western political forces that led social unrest in 2019; in their riots there the Stars and Stripes frequently appeared while US consulate officials were witnessed giving guidance to the rioters leaders.

The riots have already been pacified, thanks to the efforts of the Hong Kong people and the central government. To prevent these rioters from harming lives and normal order in Hong Kong again in the future, the National People's Congress, as the top legislature, has reformed the election rules of Hong Kong, which are within its legal power. The election rules are no more complicated than those in any country or region that claims Western "democracy".

The ruling Democratic Progressive Party in Taiwan has been challenging the "one-China" principle, which is why the central government stresses the importance of national integrity and vows to defend it. Whatever words they pick, DPP could neither deny the fact that Taiwan is part of China nor hinder the trend of China's reunification.

In all these incidents, the Chinese central government has been exercising its legal power. If the legal, normal deeds of China in defending its own sovereignty keep Haley up at night, she might need to see a psychologist.

That's because she will only see more such deeds in the future. Hong Kong will totally rid itself of the effects of few separatists, while reunification with Taiwan will be realized.

I wish Haley a sound sleep by then.
