Photographer captures beauty of stars in Ningxia
For 300 days a year, the weather in the Ningxia Hui autonomous region is sunny and cloudless, making it one of the best places in the country to observe and record the starry sky.
"Ningxia offers super excellent conditions to observe stars in terms of altitude, the coordinate of latitude and longitude, weather and climate conditions," said Liu Jun, an official from the region's culture and tourism bureau.
The starry sky can be observed well at Liupan Mountain, Helan Mountain and along both sides of the Yellow River in the region, Liu said.
Ding Bannong, a professional photographer who uses time-lapse photography, spent two nights earlier this month at the Western Xia imperial tombs near Helan Mountain, recording the beauty of the starry sky.
