The vaccine uses a modified version of the adenovirus as a vector to induce neutralizing antibodies that fight against COVID-19.

The Shanghai municipal CDC told The Paper that the new vaccine uses the same administration method of muscular injection and is as safe and effective as the other inactivated vaccines currently available.

The CDC pointed out that the new vaccine is not recommended for people with pre-existing immune system illness such as HIV and lupus erythematosus, as well as those who have diabetes.
