Young Spartans kick off holiday with race
Young Spartan lovers celebrated the Labor Day holiday in the form of a race on the first day of the five-day holiday on Saturday.
Children aged from four to 14 were divided into three age groups and raced in three distances of (2.5 km with 15 obstacles, 3.5 km with 19 obstacle and 4.5 km with 24 obstacles) in Reignwood Pine Valley, a leisure resort near the Badaling Great Wall in the northwest suburb of Beijing.
Jumping over fires and wall traversing in water were added for the first time in the kids run in the Beijing leg.
Yang Caiyu, who will turn 14 year this year, signed up for the adults' 10 km race at the end of May. She is preparing for kids' championships at the end of the year.
Adult races will be held in Shanghai, Beijing, Hangzhou and Moganshan tourist area in the rest of the year.
