During the recent three-day Dawuliang Singing Festival in Tongdao county of Huaihua, Hunan province, Dong men and women from Hunan and Guizhou provinces and the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region got together for their traditional celebration of the freedom to choose love.

Through songs and performances from April 16 to 18, they expressed the joy of love based on a folk tale.

About 300 years ago, a Dong woman named Xiao Nv was forced by her family to marry a powerful man named Ya Jiang. But Xiao loved Men Long, who worked for her family, and the couple ran away and eventually died at Wuliang Mountain.
