Wuhan doctor whose skin turned dark after virus infection returns to work
Yi Fan, a cardiologist at Wuhan Central Hospital, recently returned to his work.
Yi got infected with the novel coronavirus while treating patients at Wuhan Central Hospital and was hospitalized in late January last year.
His face was darkened due to his serious symptoms. Doctors used a drug called Polymixin B during the treatment, which led to chromatosis.
Wang Chen, the president of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences who guided Yi's treatment, said Yi's recovery is a miracle in clinical medicine.
Yi was discharged from hospital last May and his face has turned back to the normal color.
He began to provide outpatient service at his hospital since April. He said he would like to work more zealously to cure more patients.
"I think the most important thing for a doctor is to give patients hope," he said.
