PAPF's mobile units should 'open a new chapter' in development

President Xi Jinping urged the People's Armed Police Force's mobile corps to strengthen their combat training and improve their operational capabilities so they can better fulfill missions and tasks.

Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, said that the PAPF's mobile units are an important force in high-mobility military operations and shoulder significant responsibilities. They shall strive to "open a new chapter" in their development and make new achievements to celebrate the upcoming 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party, he said.

He made the remarks when inspecting the PAPF Second Mobile Corps in eastern China's Fujian province on Wednesday.

The president was in Fujian from Monday to Thursday for inspection tours to several cities and villages.

During a meeting with commanders and officers of the corps, Xi watched a video clip about the corps' buildup and listened to commanders' reports about the unit's missions.

He urged them to stay prepared for any possible contingencies, enhance planning work, arrange appropriate deployment of troops in order to ensure they will be able to rapidly and effectively respond to any situation and honor their duties.
