Original ukiyo-e exhibited in Beijing

On March 14, nearly 100 original ukiyo-e pieces, including The Great Wave off Kanagawa, were exhibited in Beijing at Today Art Museum.

The paintings on display focus on the urban culture of the Edo period, reflecting on its social life, customs and folklore and helping audiences learn more about Japanese culture.

One of the most famous works on display is The Great Wave off Kanagawa, one of the masterpieces of Japanese painter Katsushika Hokusai from the period.
