As a highlighted project marking China's effort in eradicating absolute poverty, the real stories-adapted feature film Farewell to Poverty has recently hit local theaters.

Under the helm of director Ning Jingwu, the film has brought together actors Li Dongxue and Song Jialun as well as actress Su Li to depict a group of grassroots officials dedicated to help locals lead a better life in the poverty-stricken Lankao county, Central China's Henan province.

Tang Ke, head of the program-creating center at China Movie Channel and also the movie's chief executive producer, said production of the movie took four years.

"With a distinctive narrative unfolding through a panoramic perspective, the film portraits an ensemble of major characters using financial means to battle poverty, which we wish will offer audience a sense of freshness," said Tang.

Since a number of domestic films adapted from true stories have stirred up popularity after China reopened theaters closed due to COVID-19, director Ning said the creators wish Farewell to Poverty will also draw many audience for its realistic scenes based on a lot of field studies.

Cao Yin, director of the program center at China Movie Channel, said China -- which accounts for nearly one-fifth of the world's population -- has just eight years on ending absolute poverty, creating a Chinese "miracle" in the history of poverty alleviation.

He added that the film blends artistic depiction and in-depth thoughts to reflect China's great achievement.

The film has opened across Chinese mainland since Feb 26. China National Film Museum has recently announced to list a digital copy of the movie in its collection for the movie's social value.
