China strengthens public hearing of administrative litigation supervision cases

BEIJING -- Over 900 administrative litigation supervision cases handled by procuratorial agencies across China were publicly heard in 2020, 6.5 times the number from the previous year, according to figures from the Supreme People's Procuratorate.
In 2020, procuratorial organs carried out public hearings on complicated administrative litigation supervision cases involving major disputes and numerous parties, said Zhang Xiangjun, an official with the SPP.
Online livestreaming was also adopted to enhance the transparency of public hearings and expand the channels of communication between relevant parties, Zhang said.
Next, further efforts will be made to make public hearings a normal mechanism for handling administrative litigation supervision cases, Zhang said.
