A series of online culture and tourism events will be staged for residents in Beijing during the Spring Festival holiday (Feb 11-17).

More than 350 cultural activities, including folk custom lectures, exhibition and reading sessions, will be provided to the public. Dancing, opera and Chinese folk art performances will also be delivered online.

Online temple fairs will be staged and broadcast via various video-sharing platforms, including Douyin. Experts on folk customs will be invited to explain the cultural background. A palace lantern show, story-telling in Beijing dialect with drums accompaniment, and lantern riddles will be launched to boost public interaction online.

These online programs aim to spice up holiday experiences for the public while avoiding overcrowding for the sake of pandemic control, according to the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism.
