New Zealand celebrates Chinese New Year

As the Year of the Ox approaches, Wellington, the capital of New Zealand, has been getting into the holiday spirit.

On Jan 30, the China Cultural Center in Wellington and the Wellington Multicultural Council hosted a large-scale performance to mark Chinese New Year at the National Museum of New Zealand.

Over 100 performers of more than 20 ethnic groups from China, New Zealand, India, Thailand, Indonesia, Russia, Bulgaria, Egypt, Latin America, Africa and the Pacific islands presented their amazing show for nearly 500 audience members, celebrating the joy of Chinese New Year.
