Shijiazhuang in North China's Hebei province identified four new local confirmed cases by midday on Tuesday, all of whom had been in centralized quarantine before testing positive, city Vice-Mayor Meng Xianghong said Tuesday afternoon during a daily news conference.

Two of the new patients are from Gaocheng district - the worst hit area in the city - and the rest are from Pingshan county, she said. No new asymptomatic carriers were detected.

As of midday on Tuesday, the city had reported a total of 858 locally-transmitted COVID-19 patients and had 71 asymptomatic carriers still under medical observation, Meng said.

Over 130 confirmed patients and 91 asymptomatic carriers have been discharged from local hospitals after recovering.
