China has tightened the travel policy for the upcoming Spring Festival holiday.
Travelers planning to return to their hometown over the holiday are required to hold a negative COVID-19 nucleic acid test result taken within seven days before their departure, the National Health Commission said on Wednesday.
Local governments also are required to perform stricter management on those travelers once they arrive at their destination so they can respond to any emergency situation.
According to the Ministry of Transport, 1.7 billion passenger trips are expected during the Spring Festival travel rush in 2021.
