Cities in Heilongjiang report new asymptomatic COVID-19 cases

The city of Suihua in Heilongjiang province reported 26 new local asymptomatic carriers of COVID-19 and a local confirmed case on Sunday, local officials said on Monday night.

As of 8 pm on Monday, the city had a total of 45 local asymptomatic cases and one confirmed case, said Li Yuefeng, secretary-general of Suihua city, at a news conference held on Monday night.

"All the patients were found in Huiqi village in Wangkui county, featuring high relevancy," Li said. "They have been transported to Suihua No 1 Hospital for medical observation and treatment."

A total of 38 epidemiological investigation work teams including experienced police officers and medical workers have traced nearly 1,300 close contacts.

All close contacts have been put under quarantine management.

The county has collected 114,294 nucleic acid test samples and produced 7,192 results. 

It is expected to complete the large-scale coronavirus tests covering all residents on Wednesday.

Changchun, capital city of neighboring Jilin province, reported three local asymptomatic carriers, the province's health commission said on Tuesday.

All the three cases were found positive as testing was conducted on close contacts, the commission said.

The city of Yichun in Heilongjiang reported a local asymptomatic carrier on Tuesday, according to the city's epidemic prevention and control headquarters.

The case is a local resident that returned home from Wangkui and tested positive for coronavirus two consecutive times on Monday and Tuesday.

The city of Qiqihar in Heilongjiang reported seven local asymptomatic carriers on Tuesday afternoon, according to the city's epidemic prevention and control headquarters.

All cases were local residents in the city’s Dawufuma village, and three returned home from Wangkui recently.

The other four were found to be positive for coronavirus during tests conducted on close contacts.
