12 popular keywords on delivery platform unveiled
The 12 sets of popular keywords that were written on takeout notes by users of Eleme, an online food-ordering platform, in 2020 were published by Xinhua News Agency on Dec 31.
Based on the data provided by Eleme, the 12 sets of keywords were "blessing", "contactless delivery", "the white angel", "hard work", "the happy reopening of school", "cheer", "no need for tableware", "want to see you", "one more spoon of rice", "store up", "light", and "next Spring".
In addition to new words like "contactless delivery" in the takeout notes, the frequency of words like "white angel", "cheer up", and "want to see you" was significantly higher in 2020 than in 2019.
Moreover, "blessing" was the most popular word in takeout notes during the first month of 2020, with more than 80 percent of the notes expressing users' solidarity with Wuhan.
More than 60,000 takeout orders from Eleme were sent to frontline workers in Wuhan in one week in January 2020.
In February, one of the most popular keywords was "contactless delivery" - nearly 65 percent of the orders included instructions for delivery riders to hang the food on door handles.
The number of orders which had comments such as "the white angel" and "please give this food to the frontline medical staff" and "white angels, we appreciate your hard work!" rose 2.6 times compared with the previous year.
Other notes such as "the happy reopening of the school" became popular in May when schools began to reopen, and "no need of tableware" grew in popularity in July following the implementation of new garbage sorting regulations.
