Model Confucius Institute launched at University of Nairobi

Kiama noted that the Confucius Institute at University of Nairobi will continue to uphold the concept of friendship, cooperation and development, and continue to deepen the development of Chinese language teaching.

"The Chinese and Kenyan governments officially handed over the Confucius Institute to the University of Nairobi in 2020 and the stewardship of Chinese International Education Foundation and Tianjin Normal University ensured that the granting of a Model Confucius Institute was realized," Kiama said.

Zhong Yinhua, president of Tianjin Normal University, said in his speech that the development of the Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi is a microcosm of educational exchanges between China and Kenya, and has upheld the philosophy of friendship development and win-win cooperation.

"I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the Chinese and Kenyan directors, teachers and volunteers for your dedication and hard work. We will need to cooperate in genuine efforts, focus on the high quality of local teachers and become the leader in localized teacher training," Zhong said.
