China University of Petroleum unveils AI association


The China University of Petroleum in Beijing announced the launch of Association of Artificial Intelligence for Petroleum Industry on Dec 12, aiming to help China's petroleum industry to move toward an "intelligentized" approach.
Currently, the emerging AI technology has provided strong momentum for the development of economy and changed the production mode and lifestyle of human beings. The CUP is trying to grasp the historic opportunity to construct an influential platform to further develop AI-related subjects and improve the university's capability in technological innovation and the cultivation of talents.
The university has collaborated with the Bureau of Geophysical Prospecting Inc., China National Petroleum Corporation and other 26 enterprises and institutions to initiate the association and construct a research center for the AI technology for petroleum industry.
