Gas explosion kills 2, injures 2 in Uzbekistan

TASHKENT - A gas explosion has killed two people and injured two others, destroying part of a house in Tashkent, capital of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Emergency Situations said Monday.

Preliminary investigation shows that the explosion occurred in Yangiyol District early Monday morning due to violation of the natural gas safety rules, said the ministry's press service.

A thorough investigation into the accident is underway, it added.
