TOURISM DEMO ZONES NAMED
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism released a 97-strong list of newly-recognized "all-for-one" tourism demonstration zones on Wednesday, including the Changping and Mentougou districts of Beijing. This is the second batch of "all-for-one" tourism demonstration zones announced by China. The first batch of 71 such zones was unveiled in September 2019. The tourism authority issued guidelines to develop "all-for-one" tourism demonstration zones in 2017 to improve competitiveness and service quality.
INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL MART
The 2020 China International Travel Mart, one of the largest travel fairs in the Asia-Pacific region, was held in Shanghai from Monday to Wednesday. It attracted nearly 1,500 representatives and exhibitors from around 50 countries and regions. Covering an exhibition area of 45,000 square meters, the fair showcased a wide range of fields. They included scenic spots, cultural and creative products and tourism services. The event moved online to enable people from home and abroad to experience the latest travel products and services, and aid business negotiations for both sellers and buyers.
NEW APPOINTMENT
Maximilian Schwalbe has been appointed hotel manager of the Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai. Before joining Kempinski, Schwalbe was the director of operations at Marriott Qianjiang Hotel Hangzhou. He has more than 17 years of experience in luxury hospitality. He has also held senior positions in food and beverage within the Shangri-La group.
FITNESS TRAINING
Aloft Dalian Hotel in Northeast China's Liaoning province is offering fitness training with professional coaches to help guests and visitors stay in shape. The hotel in downtown Dalian is equipped with state-of-the-art fitness facilities. It includes a 15-meter-long swimming pool, with a year-round water temperature of about 27 C.
