The first batch of 50 pension consultants in Shanghai was awarded the title of "Golden Pension Consultants" on Wednesday during a ceremony.

Organized by the Shanghai Elderly Service Development Center that is affiliated with the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau, the award ceremony was aimed at commending outstanding pension consultants and showcasing creative elderly care ideas.

To further improve the quality of pension services, more than 2,200 pension consultants participated in the selection activity in the past two months, with 50 of them chosen after a comprehensive evaluation.

Ding Yiyuan, one of the 50 awarded consultants, has been engaged in community pension service since her graduation.

"My duty is to serve the elderly who needs help, including providing advice on insurance purchases, checking in at pension institutions, leasing rehabilitation assistive devices, and using phones. Moreover, some of them just want to chat and get some warmth and care," Ding said.

"A pension consultant is not only a consultant. We also need to provide personalized and targeted services for more of the elderly. If the conditions permit, we also need to take the initiative to visit the homes of the elderly and solve difficulties within the community," she added.

To encourage pension workers to come up with innovative ideas and improve the quality and efficiency of nursing, the city's elderly service development center has launched an activity to collect creative ideas for elderly care. A total of 16 works has been rewarded, among which is a series of hand-drawn cartoons that teach the elderly how to use WeChat.
