Tsinghua University, China Mobile join hands to establish research institute

BEIJING -- China's renowned Tsinghua University has joined hands with China Mobile, one of the country's leading telecommunication operators, to establish a research institute and develop cutting-edge communications technologies.
The institute will focus on future mobile communications, next-generation internet, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things and other fields, and will carry out research on frontier and key technologies for industries.
It is designed to become a world-class research institute and cultivate leading international talent in the field of information communications. It aims to achieve innovation in frontier areas including 6G technologies, AI and the Internet of Things, as well as to promote the transformation of sci-tech achievements.
The institute will help enhance China's advantage in mobile communications, according to Lu Jianhua, director of the institute.
