5th Israeli minister tests positive for COVID-19

JERUSALEM - Israeli Minister of Regional Cooperation, Ofir Akunis tested positive for the COVID-19, according to a statement by Akunis' spokesperson on Monday.

"The minister immediately entered quarantine at his home, in accordance with the health ministry's instructions. He feels well and continues to manage the ministry's affairs from home," the statement said.

Akunis is the fifth Israeli minister who has tested positive for coronavirus since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country in late February.

The Ministry of Regional Cooperation is responsible for promoting cooperation with the countries in the Mediterranean Basin as well as the Palestinian Authority.
