To grow Hedysarum scoparium in the desert, the biggest difficulty is digging the holes into which the shrubs are placed. To deal with high cost of manpower and sand, Liang has carried out repeated trials and creating a drilling device with fan blades that can make planting more efficient. Moreover, fences have been constructed to prohibit camels, sheep and donkeys from eating the flowers.
"To see the desert converted into a sea of flowers is the happiest thing for me," Liang said. "The increasing flowers and green color in the desert embody the hopes of both netizens and us growers."
