Cordis Hotels and Resorts, a Hong Kong-based upscale hotel brand, is commemorating its fifth anniversary by opening an exhibition in Shanghai earlier this month, featuring original works of art and fashion made from recycled materials, showing its commitment to art, sustainable development and talent cultivation.

The exhibition, The Colors of Travel, showcases four artworks and three items of clothing made from textile waste from Cordis itself, including linen, bedsheets and towels. The works have been collaboratively created by Cordis, Chinese singer Huang Yali and students from the Shanghai International College of Fashion and Innovation at Donghua University.

Students took inspiration from Cordis' six locations across the world and integrated local features from each city into their works. Those features cover iconic towers, ships and the color of blue harbors in Shanghai and New Zealand's Auckland; the traditional culture and popular colors in Hong Kong and Beijing; and the natural scenery in Zhejiang province's Ningbo and Hangzhou.

The brand is also cooperating with Shanghai-based Juneyao Airlines, decorating the airline's meal carts with elements of the innovative works in the exhibition.

The carts will be used onboard the aircraft and shown at the Bund Finance Center in Shanghai.

"Art, fashion, travel and sustainability are all at the heart of what we stand for at Cordis hotels, and we will reinforce Cordis as the approachable luxury hotel brand that delivers authentic local experiences and cares for our communities and environment," said Stefan Leser, CEO of Langham Hospitality Group, which encompasses Cordis.

The exhibition will tour Cordis hotels in Beijing, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Hong Kong and Auckland, New Zealand.
