Unmanned aviation pilot zone launched
A pilot zone for the application of unmanned civil aviation was launched in Shanghai's East China Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Base on Wednesday, according to the administration committee of the Shanghai Jinshan Industrial Zone. The base will be dedicated to research of UAV airworthiness certification and low-altitude intelligent transportation between islands. The pilot zone will help obtain flight data, provide inspection and testing support for civil aviation and explore the use of drones in transporting express mail, fresh foods and other high value-added products in the Yangtze River Delta to further improve delivery efficiency, the committee said.

2 new centers for IPR protection approved
China has approved the establishment of two new centers to reduce processing time and cost of intellectual property rights protection, according to the National Intellectual Property Administration on Thursday. The new centers will be set up in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province, and Ningde, Fujian province. The center in Hangzhou will provide IPR protection services for high-end equipment manufacturing, while the other center will serve the new energy industry, the administration said. Ningde is known for its large industrial agglomeration of lithium-ion battery companies. China has 40 IPR protection centers nationwide.
Fake Gucci, Chanel items seized in capital
Beijing customs recently busted the biggest intellectual property infringement case so far this year, confiscating more than 60,000 fake goods of international brands such as Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Adidas and Chanel. The counterfeit products included glasses, bags, garments and shoes, which were sealed on Sept 30, said an official with Beijing customs, adding that the products have infringed on the trademarks of 18 well-known brands.
