Nation sees 75,800 cases in 24 hours
India has registered 75,829 confirmed coronaviruses cases in the past 24 hours until Sunday afternoon, a day after crossing 100,000 fatalities. The Health Ministry raised the country's confirmed total to more than 6.5 million on Sunday and said at least 101,782 people had died of COVID-19. India is still registering the highest number of daily cases globally but with the recovery rate at more than 83 percent, the number of those who have recovered has surpassed 5.5 million. India also has a low fatality rate of 1.56 percent, which is nearly half the global one.
AFGHANISTAN
15 killed in Taliban suicide car bombing
At least 15 people were killed and 42 others wounded in a Taliban suicide car bombing outside a district office in Nangarhar Province on Saturday, a local official said. Fighting rages across Afghanistan as Taliban militants have been attempting to take territory and consolidate their position as peace talks between the Afghan government delegation and Taliban representatives were underway in Qatar.
