HK sees 8 new virus cases, tally reaches 5,087

HONG KONG - Hong Kong reported eight new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, including a local case of unknown origin, taking the city’s overall tally to 5,087.
The only new local case was a 71-old-woman who lived at an elderly care home in Yuen Long, Chuang Shuk-kwan, head of the communicable disease branch of the Centre for Health Protection, said at a press briefing on Wednesday afternoon.
She said the woman was hospitalized on Sept 28 for other illnesses and then tested positive.

A total of 61 residents and 19 workers at the elderly care home need to be quarantined, Chuang added.
She said the woman moved into the care home on Sept 21. Before that, she lived at Tsui Ping Estate in Kwun Tong.
Other new infections on Wednesday were all imported, including three from the United Kingdom, two from the Philippines, one from India and one from Russia, Chuang said.
