A Mid-Autumn Festival Reception for foreign correspondents in Beijing was held by the All-China Journalists Association on Monday night at Prince Kung's Palace in Beijing.

The event was co-organized by the China Federation of Economic Media which invited more than 120 guests including foreign correspondents in Beijing and the media officers from foreign embassies in China.

According to Liu Zhengrong, director of ACJA, during the initial COVID-19 outbreak, journalists in many countries sent letters of consolation to ACJA expressing their concern for Chinese journalists.

"We were deeply touched by this kind gesture," he said. "We all deeply felt that we share the same planet, and we should understand each other, clarify information with each other and support each other in order to cope with our common challenges."

"The media practitioners of various countries should maintain communication, deepen mutual learning and strive to eliminate misunderstandings and barriers between people in different regions and countries and act as messengers of friendship," Liu said.

There were traditional Chinese cultural exhibitions and experiences at the event including exhibits on the Chinese folk art of paper-cutting and making mooncakes and Chinese knots.
