President sends festive greetings
President Xi Jinping extended congratulations and greetings to farmers and people dedicated to agricultural and rural work on Monday ahead of the third Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival.
Xi said the harvest is quite precious, given that the country's agricultural production was challenged by a number of adverse factors, including the COVID-19 outbreak, serious flooding along the Yangtze River, the drought in northeastern China and typhoons in coastal areas.
Farmers and rural workers have made great efforts to overcome the problems brought by the disease and natural disasters in order to bring in the harvest and secure the country's economic and social development, Xi said.
He stressed the fostering of an atmosphere in the whole of society in which agriculture, rural areas and farmers are cared for.
Communist Party of China committees and governments at all levels should implement the CPC Central Committee's policies on agricultural and rural work, pay attention to agricultural and rural development and help farmers lead a better life, Xi said.
