Exhibition carves fight against COVID-19, poverty on seals

Chinese Seal Carving 2020 - The Exhibition on the Art of Seal Carving of Poverty Alleviation Campaign and Building A Moderately Prosperous Society kicked off at China Millennium Monument in Beijing on Monday.

More than 200 seals featuring the poverty alleviation process together with the fight against COVID-19 pandemic are on display. The seals are made from various materials including traditional wood, stone, copper as well as a new type of graphite and glass fiber.

"Watching these seal carvings allows me go through our country's fight against COVID-19, and I can feel the artists'respect to all the front line medical workers," Wu Meixin, an audience member said.

Luo Pengpeng, director of the Institute of Chinese Seal Engraving, Chinese National Academy of Arts, said the exhibition is salute to the COVID-19 fighters against COVID-19 by engraving the history on the seals.

The exhibition will run until Oct 24. The event will also feature sessions on fighting the pandemic and poverty alleviation.
