Beijing's Ecology and Environment Bureau said on Sunday that the number of electric vehicles in the capital had passed 350,000, accounting for nearly 10 percent of the total in China.
Of those, 70,600 are being used in the public transportation and welfare sectors.
Lian Aiping, deputy head of the bureau's motor vehicle office, said Beijing will continue to improve its transportation structure to make it "greener".
The integration of transportation in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region will improve through shared information and stricter controls on high-emission vehicles entering key roads, according to the bureau.
