After being relocated in 2017, He and his family moved out of their adobe house and into their new house in Taihu New Village.

"Now we live in a bigger house near the county town, and our life is more comfortable," He said.

Located in the center of Xunwu county, Taihu New Village is 1.2 km from the county town and about 500 meters from the new bus station under construction, which will provide easy transportation access to all residents.

The majority of buildings in New Taihu Village are multi-story houses, but there are a number of homesteads. Facilities such as a kindergarten, community center, basketball court and banks also have been set up to meet people's daily needs.

According to He Jiayan, a 43-year-old villager who runs a small garment workshop in his house, he chose to start his own business in the New Taihu Village because of the people and policies.

"Before I returned home to Xunwu county, I worked in a clothes factory in Guangdong province for over decade and I am skilled at garment making," He said.

"After we were relocated, I found many people here can also make clothes. In addition, the local government has formulated a series of policies to support local businesses, so I decided to stay."

To date, He has started two workshops and provided job opportunities for impoverished households in the village.
