President Uhuru Kenyatta sends cabinet members on 11-day leave

President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya has sent all cabinet members on an 11-day leave starting Monday.
In a statement on Sunday, Joseph Kinyua, the head of public service, said unless there is a national emergency, the cabinet committees and technical committees will not have scheduled engagements during the recess.
He however said the cabinet members will be required to conduct working tours, site visits and field engagements.
"President Uhuru is convinced that a short cabinet working recess will enable the cabinet to deliver on its mandate with renewed energy while being accorded an opportunity to connect with their families and our shared heritage," Kinyua said.
Kinyua also pointed out that during the recess, delivery of government services will continue uninterrupted.
On the speculation of a looming cabinet reshuffle, Kinyua said Uhuru remains steadfast in his confidence with the membership and capacity of his cabinet, the senior ranks of the executive, as well as their individual and collective ability to support the delivery of his agenda for the nation.
